Bob Eddy / Photojournalism & Nature Photography

We asked Bob to tell us a bit about his creativity, and his lifelong journeys as a photojournalist.

This is what he wrote:

“The creative path is, for me, all about “being present.”

If I am really present … to this moment, this place, this encounter … a response inevitably wells up within me. Sometimes the response is simply a smile, or tears, an exclamation of surprise, or joy. But there are other times when I am motivated to create a more lasting impression from the encounter.

Photography, writing, painting, sculpture, making music, landscaping, interior decoration, architectural design… there have been so many paths!

I love the vast interior spaces of large barns and great cathedrals. At certain moments, a shaft of light can be seen descending through the dark from an opening high overhead. We see that beautiful light because thousands of dust particles are floating in the air.

I like to think we’re motes of dust, privileged to be here for a time, reflecting the light.

My creative impulses are simply a celebration, a reflection of the light I see all around.”
